2012 Beale Street Music Festival In Memphis!
Very very pronto, LasGringas are packing up and heading back to where all the magia began…Memphis, TN! Claro, we are primarily headed back to the city of blues, BBQ and Elvis because our main man, Pitbull will be performing at the one and only Beale Street Music Festival (and trust us, we have already properly freaked out about it, but we’ve calmed down now…un poco). Amidst our excitement about Mr. 305 in the 901, we do want to pause to appreciate the rest of the awesome line-up!
You can get a complete and total list of the expansive line-up which covers three days and (essentially) five different stages (Horseshoe Stage, Orion Stage, Bud Light Stage, FedEx Blues Tent and the Southern Comfort Blues Shack) by clicking here, but if you want the short and sweet version, read on.
Friday, May 4th kicks off the festivities and we’ve got the likes of Lupe Fiasco (a personal fave of La Rubia’s), Girl Talk, Florence and the Machine, Memphis favorite, Three Six Mafia and headliners, My Morning Jacket.
Saturday, May 5th (apparently the peak attendance day for the weekend…not really surprising) is when Pitbull will be performing, but festival goers can also catch headliners Jane’s Addiction along with Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Al Green, Buddy Guy, Son Volt and Yo Gotti.
Sunday, May 6th is last but certainly not least with Primus, Wiz Khalifa, Bush, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Jerry Lee Lewis, Herbie Hancock and many more rounding out the festival weekend.
In case you can’t tell from the line-up highlights above, the Beale Street Music Festival is a big deal. Even though, we gringas are primarily interested in experiencing Pit in all his hip-swiveling glory (I really feel like there is an Elvis reference I can make here…), we are still more than capable of recognizing the additional awesomeness the event organizers have arranged. Whether you like rap, folk, metal or blues…there is something for any music lover! So, if you haven’t booked tickets yet, and don’t know quite what to do with your Cinco de Mayo weekend, I suggest you look into checking out this one-of-a-kind festival in Memphis, TN. And if you do make it, try and find Las Gringas in the sea of people to say hola (Hint: we will be near the Orion Stage!)
