Ridiculous Lyric: “Dutty Love” by Don Omar Ft. Natti Natasha.
Our favorite reggaeton artists never cease to provide ample content for our ridiculous lyrics posts, which is partially why we love them so much. However, this week, Don Omar just barely escapes this “honor” as he, himself is not the culprit of the particularly ridiculous lyric found in the song Dutty Love, but rather the chica featured with him, Natti Natasha.
The lyric that got my attention goes like this….
otros amores del pasado me han dejado diabetica
y no puedo ser dulce contigo
This song is playing constantly on local Miami radio and I actually really like it. Then after about the 15th time I heard it…uhhh, wait a minute…”did she just reference diabetes?” I had to Google the rest of the lyrics (I honestly couldn’t understand what she was saying without a little online letra help) and I admit it makes more sense within the context of the “sweet” analogy but still, I think it’s a little much.
Maybe I need to take my serious-meter down a notch, but I always cringe when I hear music that makes light of serious conditions (ie heart attacks, strokes). Plus, it’s a pop song. Why on earth are we talking about diabetes in a pop song? So while this particular lyric isn’t THAT bad, I do think it’s just a little weird.
So, what do you think, am I overreacting?
Side note: When one of you gets a chance can you help me out and please explain what Dutty Love actually means? Gracias!
No video released for this one, get with it Don!
