Glee’s Naya Rivera Supports Gay Rights and Hosts GLAAD Awards.
Naya Rivera is using her fictional life as a platform to support equal rights! The 25 yr. old part Puerto Rican actress plays the sassy, typically harsh but always amusing (and increasingly vocally talented) Cheerios cheerleader, Santana Lopez on the hit FOX series Glee who recently stepped out of the closet in what was an emotional and poignant scene. Rivera’s character has given her the opportunity to speak out in support of gay rights, and she has been honored for the second year in a row with the role of host at the 2012 GLAAD Awards.
Rivera will be co-hosting the event with Glee co-star Corey Monteith. The 23rd Annual GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) Media Awards will be held in New York City on March 24th. GLAAD is dedicated to bringing culture-changing stories of LGBT individuals through news, entertainment and social media.
