Gringa Favorites: Snacks & Drinks for Football Sundays

While I have to admit I’m not the biggest football fan, I always seem to find myself watching it on Sundays! Being the house that usually ends up hosting these watch-parties, I always have to get smart with what snacks and drinks I serve, that will be both tasty but also not totally screw up my diet.

My favorite snacks

On the snacks side, I will say that I always have a bowl of Wonderful Pistachios out on the table. They are a great choice for snack time because they offer protein, fiber, potassium, and healthy fats, which are good for heart health. Additionally, nearly 90 percent of fats in pistachios are the healthy, unsaturated type. They satisfy my need for a salty treat, which helps me stay away from all that pizza and carbs!

When I need some crunch, I always go for some tasty pork rinds! What better to snack on while you are watching guys throw around the “pigskin,” right? These are a great replacement for me instead of the high-carb potato or tortilla chips. Add in a can of salsa (check for a natural version that is low in sugar!) and you have a perfectly tasty alternative for chips and dip!

My favorite drinks

I recently discovered UV vodka, which is a great way to get some flavor in with your booze – all in the same bottle! The flavors which vary from apple to Sriracha to candy bar have 0 artificial flavoring, which means you get some really stellar sabor, the natural way!

One of my favorite recipes using this vodka is the Sea Breeze Soda, that features the UV Ruby Red Grapefruit. To make it all you need is:

  • 1 part UV Ruby Red Grapefruit
  • 1 part club soda
  • 1 part pineapple juice
  • Shake ingredients and strain into a lowball glass over ice. Garnish with a lime slice

If you are looking for a spirit that is organic, I love Prairie Organic Spirits. Their single vintage organic corn is distilled to taste, not a prescribed number of times. That’s because climate, soil, and moisture levels give each small batch its own unique character. Preserving that character takes personal attention, giving our spirits an award-winning taste that can stand on its own.

They carry regular vodka, cucumber-flavored vodka (sooo refreshing!), as well as organic gin. I can only vouch for the regular vodka, which was so fresh and smooth! Add this with a no-sugar, no-carb sparkling water and a lime for a guilt-free vodka spritzer! Hits the spot!
