Hola Hi Offers Refreshing and Upbeat Sound with Primavera Album.

With the first few notes of Hola Hi‘s Primavera, I am literally bouncing in my seat. I want nothing more than to hop in my car, crank up their album and roll around with the windows down. This duo, Angelina de los Rosarios y Paul Curtis, clearly pulls from many genres, and I have to say that the result is fantastic.

I listen to a lot of music and I write a lot of reviews, and there is something that some artists have that simply can’t be faked: authenticity. I can say with 100% certainty Hola Hi has got it. There is naturalness to the mixture of genres here, no doubt a result of the combo of their origins (Angelina = Domincan Republic y Paul = New Orleans). We hear pop and rock infused with little echoes of bluesy, and even international, qualities (especially interesting are the MidEast vibes in “Torre De Barajas“), and Rosarios offers up vocals with powerful and honest delivery.

There is a blending of fast and slower paced tracks on this album, but they are blended together in a way that creates a unified project. Whether you’re looking for something to get you moving (see tracks like “Aire De Primavera”  y “Viaje Al Horizante“) or want to be more chill (see tracks like “Todo De Mi” y “Sin Temor“), Hola Hi has got it under control.
