Telenovela, La Reina Del Sur Coming In English.
Are you a fan Telemundo’s 2011 La Reina del Sur? There’s a pretty good chance that if you are a latina who has any interest in soap operas, the answer is SI! The original series was Telemundo’s most successful show in its 19 year history and averaged 4.2 million viewers! The Spanish-language series is done with, but in an attempt to continue the success of this true-story turned telenovela, La Reina will be arriving again in your homes, but this time in English!
So here’s the deal: Deadline.com is reporting that Fox TV Studios president, David Madden, revealed that “The Queen of the South” will be most likely developed as a crime drama. Get your cable ready because due to the high level of violence, it may be targeted at cable stations. But since these talks are still in beginnging stages, maybe they will come up with a more PG-13 version that would be network safe (we vote for this option!).
Arturo Perez Reverte’s bestselling book (from which the series was based) has been sitting on my shelf for a couple of years and I keep meaning to go back and watch the Telemundo series, so maybe this news will inspire me to join in on the Reina fun! What about you, do you plan to check out the series in English?
