Latin’s Leading Ladies Panel: Billboard Conference Must See
Arriba las mujeres!! Latin music female singers/songwriters Kany Garcia, Carla Morrison, America Sierra and Olga Tañon, have been confirmed to participate on the Latin’s Leading Ladies panel, featuring a gathering of bold female artists who are changing the sound and look of women in music. I feel like this panel is spot on, especially since I just noticed that not a single performer confirmed for the Premios Billboard is a woman. What’s up with that?
“In the past 12 months, Latin female artists have emerged with out-of-the box musical and business proposals that are redefining the Latin music landscape. This panel brings together established and emerging acts from multiple genres that are making a difference,” said Leila Cobo, executive director of Latin Content and Programming for Billboard.
The panel will be moderated by Justino Aguila, Billboard’s associate editor for Latin Music…and for the local gente who want to attend: the panel discussion will be held on Wednesday, April 24th, during the 2013 Billboard Latin Music Conference & Awards at the JW Marriott Marquis in Miami, Florida. Registration information can be found at www.BillboardLatinConference.com.
Later that day, ASCAP will continue the celebration of mujeres in Latin music hosting the “Latin Ladies of Music- el Showcase” and featuring performances by singer/songwriters Kany Garcia, Lena, Debi Nova and Mariana Vega. Sounds like an awesome fiesta!
Do you believe there are enough women represented in the Latin music industry? Dinos your opinion!
