With big names like Juanes, Chayanne, Juan Luis Guerra, and Don Omar…you know there was no way we would miss on out the show of the year, the Megaton 2014 Concert in New York City. We were so honored to be invited by TuneIn to travel to the Big Apple and see this awesome line up at Madison Square Garden with VIP and backstage access…que cool, verdad?
For those who don’t know, TuneIn is the world’s largest audio network and they are no stranger to the Hispanic music scene. Five out of their Top 40 Stations are actually Spanish language radio stations (Radio Mitre in Buenos Aires, Bogotá’s Caracol Radio, ESPN Deportes, Panda Show Radio and Mexico’s W Radio). They reach millions of Hispanic listeners around the world every day. Needless to say, we were very excited that they included Las Gringas Blog as part of the blogger correspondents for this big event!
My night in New York at the Megaton was jam-packed with so much activity…and instead of just telling you about it all, how about I show you?! While it was hard to narrow it down, here are my top 5 favorite moments at the Megaton 2014 with TuneIn.
#1) Blogger Friends!
It was a pleasure getting to spend time with some of our favorite blogueras, like Pattie Cordova from Living Mi Vida Loca (pictured below). Living on opposite coasts, our relationship has previously been stuck in the virtual space…so it was great to be able to interact with her IRL!

#2) Meeting the man!
While I’m obviously a huge fan of all of the headliners at Megaton, Juan Luis Guerra is actually the most “elusive” of the group! Living in Miami, I attend almost every premios/red carpet event and this is the FIRST time I’ve ever been able to snap a pic with this hombre! He was quiet, very sweet, and man…was he tall!
#3) This moment….
While I took endless photos during the show, this is my favorite by far. This photo reminds me of the joy and energy that Carlos Vives exudes when he preforms. The moment that he walked out on stage, there was a rush of positive energy and celebration that fill the stadium. Plus, I’ve always loved how Carlos Vives integrates traditional Colombian instruments into his music…staying true to his heritage in a genre that has gone so mainstream.
#4) A capella Chayanne
I can’t say that I wasn’t a little disappointed that Chayanne didn’t perform an entire set, but the acapella momentos that he gave us are priceless! Chayanne appeared on stage while they were honoring Polito Vega and totally stole the spot light when he broke out into some of his biggest hits…a capella style.
#5) The dancing!
Ok, I’m cheating a little here, because I have 2 videos for this final #5 moment…but that’s just because the DANCING was insane at Megaton 2014. The MSG turned into a huge dance hall and everyone was on their feet throughout all of the performances. What I loved is that its not just the gente doing the dancing, but they are following the lead of their favorite artists. I had to capture these moments on video so you can dance along with Juan Luis Guerra and Carlos Vives!
Awesome, right?! Well, thanks to TuneIn the party doesn’t have to end here! They have endless stations with your favorite música …PLUS to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, TuneIn has curated a special station, that will refresh each day so you can experience the vast range of música latina of today and yesterday.
