PepsiCo Showcases Manzanita, Tamarindo, & Toronja Sol At Hispanicize 2012.
During my time in Mexico, I tried a variety of local cuisine, native fruits, y exotic flavors but…wouldn’t you know it…this gringa became obsessed with Mexican soda! After leaving mi querido Mexico, I thought I would have to give up my favorite sabores, but to my surpise at Hispanicize 2012, I was invited to a fiesta hosted by Pepsico where they were showcasing Manzanita, Tamarindo, and Toronja Sol!
Back to my early days in Mexico…I have to admit, I was pretty skeptical the first time I was offered a carbonated apple drink…and tamarindo? I had no idea what a tamarind was and after it was explained to me as pulp from a seed pod, I was even more hesitant to take a sip. But when I finally gave these unique flavors a chance, they quickly became my favorites! Since moving back to the States, I had all but forgotten about these sabores. Now, thanks to Pepsi, we can enjoy these unique Mexican sodas en los Estados Unidos!
I also learned that my favorite Mexican sodas also make tasty alcoholic beverages. I highly recommend the Tamarindo Margarita which was muy rico…definitely brought back some Mexico memories!
