La Roja Attends 2011 Premio Lo Nuestro!
While there are a lot of events, parties and festivals throughout the year in Miami, nothing gets me more excited than awards season! Luckily, for the Latin music fans in the 305, the majority of the Premios are held here (with the exception of the Latin Grammys moved to Las Vegas several years ago). I do my best to never miss an awards show when it comes to town, but this was my first time to attend the longest running Latin music awards show, Premio Lo Nuestro which was broadcast live on Univision. The night was packed with sparkling celebrities, big wins, and spectacular performances, but I’ve pulled together my 3 favorite “Super Estrellas” of the evening.
La Roja’s Top 3 Favorite Moments from Premio Lo Nuestro
- The Great Hanging Nacho: Chino y Nacho‘s performance of “Poeta” was thrilling, but not because of their amazing musical harmonies. The duo made their entrance via individual hanging platforms from the high ceiling, and as Chino was making it down to start singing, the audience suddenly realized that poor Nacho was stuck and going no where! The show went on, and Chino did all the doubles choreography solo. Luckily though, Nacho was slowly lowered from the platform just in time for the final chorus! We are very happy he wasn’t hurt, but it definitely gave the crowd a good laugh!
- The Amazing Flying Alejandra: If you read my “Must-See List” post from last week, you will know I predicted Alejandra Guzman‘s performance with Moderatto would be a memorable one, and these Mexican rockers didn’t disappoint! While Moderatto was definitely a sight to see in their usual 80’s hair and makeup, the highlight of the performance was the amazing Alejandra, who still seems to be able to find the perfect mix of sexy and bad-ass which culminated as she rose above the stage in a long flowing gown while never missing a note or loosing her cool. ¡Que mujer!
- The Superman Pitbull: This man is un-stoppable! Not only did he take home 2 premios (Urban Artist of the Year and Urban Album of the Year), he amazed the crowd with 2 high-energy performances. The first, “International Love” with Chris Brown had him literally running from one stage to the other. Then with the grand finale of the evening, he joined Juan Magan and El Cata in “Bailando Por El Mundo” where he was showing off his 305 skills and dancing up a storm!
