Wisin Y Yandel Withdraw From JLo, Enrique Iglesias Tour
When it rains Wisin Y Yandel news….it pours! Just 2 weeks before the launch of their super summer tour with Enrique Iglesias and Jennifer Lopez, the reggaeton duo withdraw from the line-up, citing “un-resolvable issues” for their sudden departure. This news came quite suddenly…and made us gringas have a major QUE PASO? moment and our dreams of some spectacular reggaeton has been shattered. But the real pregunta is….¿por que?
While there are rumors as to the details behind the sudden exit of WyY from the tour, I honestly can’t say I’m that surprised. To me, it was more surprising the fact that this super duo even signed up to be an opening act to begin with. Wisin y Yandel have 13 years under their belts, several Grammys and have previously sold out US venues like the Staples Center and Madison Square Garden.
Still….the question of exactly why they would pull out of the tour so last minute remains. Their official (translated) statement pretty much reveals nothing:
”It is with sadness and regret that we have decided to withdraw from the tour. Our sincerest apologies go out to our fans. We wish Jennifer and Enrique, as well as the tour, the very best. We promise to do our best to announce an upcoming U.S. tour in the very near future as we are as eager to be out there performing for our fans as they are to see us.”
However, it doesn’t take too much stretch of the imagination to assume there was maybe a little bit of a Puerto Rican diva moment as the artistas tried to agree on the amount of time and production elements allocated during the show. Wisin Y Yandel are accustomed to putting on full-length concerts…so limiting their set to a hand full of songs does seem like a topic of discussion.
While I do understand how this would be a sticky situation for them…it does leave the fans in a frustrating position. If the duo wanted more show time, why did they agree to a tour with 2 super stars in the first place? Pero bueno, we will keep you updated on the new opening act to replace WyY which will be announced very soon!
